1965年、ペギー・マーチのヒット・ソングのカバー曲「可愛いマリア」でレコードデビュー。翌66年に「若いってすばらしい」（作詞：安井かずみ、作曲：宮川泰）が大ヒットし、一躍、当時のポピュラー・シーンに登場する。1970年に第一線の歌手活動を引退したのち、スタジオ・ミュージシャンとして活動を再開。彼女がヴォーカルを担当したCM曲は2,000曲にのぼる。また、バックコーラスとしての活動も活発に行い、岩崎宏美「ロマンス」「霧のめぐり逢い」、山口百恵「しなやかに歌って」、沢田研二「サムライ」、ピンク・レディー「モンスター」など、数多くのヒット・ソングのレコーディングに参加している。2006年、自身初のジャズ・アルバムとなる「マキズ・バック・イン・タウン」をリリース、絶大な人気を誇るトランペッターのエリック・ミヤシロが率いるビッグ・バンドと共に、敬愛するフランク・シナトラのナンバーを歌い上げた。（販売元：King Inter Jazzより）

In 1965, Michiru Maki made her record debut covering Peggy March’s hit song “Kawaii Maria (I’m in Love).” The following year, with her huge hit “Wakaitte Subarashii” (Lyrics: Kazumi Yasui, Composition: Yasushi Miyagawa), she suddenly appeared in the popular music scene of the era. She retired from the music industry once in 1970. Then she resumed her music career as a studio musician. She sang on more than 2000 jingles. She also recorded background vocals on many hit songs such as Hiromi Iwasaki’s "Romance" and “Kiri no Meguriai”, Momoe Yamaguchi’s “Shinayakani Utatte”, Kenji Sawada’s “Samurai", Pink Lady’s "Monster.” In 2006, she released her first jazz album, “Maki's Back in Town,” and sang Frank Sinatra classics with the tremendously popular trumpeter Eric Miyashiro's big band.
